How to Play

The Story

You are Light Yagami — 17-year-old genius, son of the NPA Chief, and the owner of a supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written inside it. This is a visual novel with branching choices. Your decisions shape the story and determine how it ends.

The Death Note — Critical Rules

The Death Note only works when you have both of these:

Real Name

Full legal name. Aliases, nicknames, or partial names will not work.

Face

You must have seen the target's face — on television, in person, or in a photograph.

If you write the wrong name, or attempt to kill someone without both requirements, it will not only fail — it will alert L that Kira has limitations. Be precise. Be certain.

Watch the News (TV)

The TV button opens broadcast feeds. Each day, news reports may reveal criminal names and faces. Some criminals appear by alias only. Some show their face but not their name. Watch carefully — what you learn from the news is what you can act on.

Suspicion & L

You will never see a percentage. Instead, watch for narrative cues:

Low

"L appears uninterested." You're safe.

Medium

"L is taking notes." Proceed carefully.

High

"L is focused on you." Danger.

Critical

"L has a theory." Game may end.

Ryuk & Shinigami Eyes

Ryuk, the death god who dropped the notebook, will watch you throughout the game. He may comment, offer the Shinigami Eye Deal, or react to your patterns. The Eye Deal lets you see anyone's real name instantly — but at the cost of half your remaining lifespan. It unlocks new paths but closes others.

Endings

Your choices lead to one of many endings — from global godhood to early arrest. The story follows the Death Note manga arcs: Raye Penber, Naomi Misora, L, the Yotsuba arc, Misa Amane, Near, the Yellow Box Warehouse. Explore different paths.

FUNDAMENTAL RULES:

· The human whose name is written in this note shall die.

· This note will not take effect unless the writer has the person's face in mind when writing his or her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.

· If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the person's name, it will happen.

· If the cause of death is left unwritten, the person will simply die of a heart attack.

· After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Details written that are physically impossible for the human will be ignored and a heart attack will occur.

· The human who uses this note can neither go to Heaven nor Hell.
